About Neubauer’s Auto Repair
Welcome to Neubauer’s Auto Repair in Ellicott City, Maryland – About Us!
Jim Neubauer started with his grandfather; Pete Reichardt, who started Reichardt’s Esso in 1947, on the corner of Route 40 and Frederick Road in Howard County, MD. “I remember when I was young (still in diapers), I would crawl through the rows of tires that were for sale. Later In my younger years back in the 1960s, when customers would come in for gas, I would have to stand on oil cans to reach customer’s windshields to clean them. Back then, my payment was a dime for the Pepsi machine.”
In the 1970s, Pete retired and sold the Esso station to Will Neubauer (my father) which then became Neubauer’s Exxon. I was in charge of cleaning restrooms and progressed from there. After finishing school, I started turning wrenches for my father full-time. In 1989, I retired my father and took over Neubauer’s Exxon.
In 2002, I left the gasoline business and bought the building on Chevrolet Drive in Ellicott City, which currently houses Neubauer’s Auto Repair. Today I have both of my kids working along with myself in the business. Chelsea (my daughter) works in the front with the customers and Seth (my son) works on servicing customers’ vehicles. Those two now make the fourth generation here at Neubauer’s.
Jim has built the Ellicott City, Maryland auto repair business into the busy, well-respected shop it is today. He is proud of the reputation that’s been built. Neubauer’s Auto Repair strives to be the best auto repair service in the area.
